JEROMESVILLE, Ohio (9/13/23)--The Board of Education approved a small increase in meal prices at its monthly meeting on September 12, 2023. This is the first increase in meal prices since the 2011-2012 school year.

The new prices will take effect Monday, September 18, 2023.

Breakfasts will now be $1.50 for PK-6 students and $1.75 for grades 7-12.

Lunches will now be $2.75 for grades K-6 and $3.00 for grades 7-12.

Both meals remain free for students who have qualified for free- and reduced-meals.

The increase is in response to rising food costs, as well as the end of the USDA waiver during the pandemic, which ended at the close of the 2021-2022 school year.

Despite the increase, these new prices are lower than or the same as nine area schools' lunch prices as posted on their websites, which includes being less than all other schools in Ashland County.

Families may still complete the Free and Reduced-Lunch application. Find information here: http://www.hillsdale.k12.oh.us/district/lunch-menu
