The following information was presented at three community informational meetings in the fall of 2022.

Earned Income Tax History

In 2012, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) evaluated the district's operations, placed the district on Fiscal Caution, and made their recommentdations in March 2013. The Hillsdale Board of Education voted to lay off 11 positions in April 2013.

In November 2013, Hillsdale residents passed a 1.25% Earned Income Tax.

Accomplishments Since Passing the Earned Income Tax

  • June 9, 2015: ODE released the district from Fiscal Caution
  • The district brought back most of the cut programs
    • some were incorporated as segments of other courses
  • Updated the bus fleet to a 10-year rotation
  • Added an additional liaison and a school-based therapist
  • Increased school nursing from part-time to full-time
  • Added two School Resource Officers (SRO)
  • Added cameras to all three buildings
  • 1-to-1 Chromebook district
    • every student has a Chromebook; high school and middle school are able to take them home; elementary school remain at school
  • Interactive TVs are replacing Smartboards
  • Expanded the College Credit Plus program
  • Brought preschool to the elementary building
  • Expanded services with curriculum support, special education support, and technology support

In November 2022, the district placed the issue on the ballot. Hillsdale residents voted it down.
