JEROMESVILLE, Ohio (1/5/24)--In a poignant display of honor and respect, Hillsdale Student Council members from grades 5-8 participated in the annual Wreaths Across America Event at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

The event, organized by Wreaths Across America and supervised by advisors Mr. Kent Hostetler and Mrs. Nikki Blosser, has become a cherished tradition for Hillsdale Local Schools, emphasizing the values of remembrance, gratitude, and service to the community. Students, armed with wreaths and a heartfelt commitment, gathered at the cemetery to pay homage to the fallen heroes who have served our nation.

Under the guiding principles of "REMEMBER the Fallen, HONOR those who Serve, and TEACH our children the value of Freedom," the student council actively engaged in laying wreaths on the graves of veterans. This annual undertaking extends beyond a simple act of decoration; it serves as a meaningful service project to assist the families of veterans and to honor the profound sacrifices made by many.

The emotional resonance of the event was palpable as students, alongside families and community members, came together to express their gratitude. Each wreath laid symbolized a collective commitment to preserving the memory of those who gave their all for the cause of freedom.

This year marks yet another chapter in Hillsdale's ongoing dedication to Wreaths Across America, reaffirming the school's commitment to instilling values of service and community engagement in its students. The student council's active involvement in this meaningful service project underscores Hillsdale Local Schools' mission to build character and expect excellence in its students.
