Building Character, Expecting Excellence

Welcome to Hillsdale 5th and 6th grades. The faculty and staff are proud of our reputation of having a safe, warm and caring environment.

We are dedicated to preparing our students for their next phase of life. We strive to prepare the whole child, engaging them in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities. We welcome the partnerships with parents, students, and community members as we train our students to be active participants in their 21st century educational experience.

Our staff has spent time training in the Olweus Anti-Bullying Prevention Program and A.L.I.C.E. training.  We are beginning to implement Marzano’s High Yield Strategies for learners.  We use innovative teaching strategies such as team teaching and the Socratic method.

Our students have the opportunity to work with Smart Boards and computers every day.  They are introduced to the worlds of robotics and agriculture in our STEM classes, and learn about their creative sides in our drama club’s student-directed plays and the music departments concerts.

At Hillsdale Schools, we are BUILDING CHARACTER, EXPECTING EXCELLENCE!

Go Falcons!

Sincerely,

Mr. Keib

Building Character, Expecting Excellence

As I enter my twelfth year as principal at Hillsdale, I am more excited than ever to be able to be part of this school and community. I have been a life-long resident of Ashland County where I graduated from Ashland High School and Ashland University. I taught in both the Clear Fork and Madison Schools before coming to Hillsdale 20 years ago. I have been married to my wife Tammy for 27 years and we have two sons, Trey (2018 Hillsdale graduate, Thiel College graduate) and Ty (2021 Hillsdale Graduate, Hillsdale College junior). It is my honor to serve the community of Hillsdale as the PK-4 principal.

We service approximately 360 students in pre-school through fourth grade. Hillsdale Elementary was rated “Excellent” by the state of Ohio many times over the years. The state has changed testing a few times in recent years, and we are working to meet those new standards while developing the technology skills required to be successful on the assessments. Our dedicated staff is committed to helping our students meet academic challenges, develop positive character traits and leadership skills, and become upstanding citizens. We have created an environment where teachers love coming to teach and students love coming to learn.

Here at Hillsdale, we believe that the partnership between parents and school is an integral part of our school community. We not only encourage parent involvement, we NEED it! Our Falcon parents play a vital role in their children’s education. As partners, we share the common goal of nurturing each growing and developing child and giving each student the greatest head start in the world. Because of this, children will continue to succeed at our school.

I have high expectations for the Hillsdale PK-4 students. Our Positive Behavior Program, Fabulous Falcons, honors students each month and we also have rewards that each student can attain. Our goals for that program are for students to be Respectful, Responsible, and Really Awesome!  I know with a knowledgeable staff and supportive community guiding the learning process, our Falcons will reach their full potential.

At Hillsdale Schools, we are BUILDING CHARACTER, EXPECTING EXCELLENCE!

Sincerely,

Mr. Tom Williams
