A Message from the Superintendent April 21

JEROMESVILLE (4/21/20)--Dear Hillsdale Families,

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented us all with some of the most challenging times we have ever experienced in the Hillsdale community. On April 20, Governor Mike DeWine announced that all school buildings in Ohio would remain closed through the end of the school year.

With this order from Governor DeWine, we can now move forward with plans for events that are affected.

  • Most recently OHSAA has canceled the spring athletic season.
  • The governor is allowing local districts with input from local health departments to determine how and when they can conduct a safe graduation ceremony. It is still our hope that we will conduct the event on the originally scheduled date of Sunday, May 24. We will share information as soon as details become finalized.

I know that this order has caused a great deal of concern and disappointment for our students, staff, and families. When we were directed to close our school buildings in March, we did not realize it would be the last time we would see our students in person this school year.

Per our district calendar, the last days of school are

  • Seniors: May 22
  • All Other Students: May 28

We will continue providing remote learning opportunities until those dates. Your child's teachers and principal(s) will continue communicating any new information regarding learning.

  • The next packet delivery will be May 6 between 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • All preK-12 completed lessons can continue to be dropped off at the high school Mondays through Fridays 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

To our students, thank you for taking responsibility for your learning by doing your best. Be sure to reach out if you need help. Hang in there. Know that we are missing you every day!

In addition, we will continue delivering the whole week’s worth of meals on Tuesdays between 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In the meantime, if there's anything we can do to support you, please contact our administrative team.

Once again, thank you for your patience, understanding, and flexibility during this unprecedented time. We will get through this together. Please continue to stay safe, practice social distancing, and remain at home as much as possible.

Sincerely,
Mr. Steve Dickerson
Superintendent
