Throughout her tour with Superintendent Dr. Cathy Trevathan, Representative Miller observed students actively participating in art, science, STEAM, greenhouse activities, and viewed student quilting projects. The visit showcased Hillsdale’s commitment to providing hands-on, student-centered learning that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and real-world skills.
A special moment of the day was the sharing of her husband’s award-winning artwork from his time as a Hillsdale fourth grader, an illustration that still holds a place of honor during the district’s Veterans Day assemblies.
Representative Miller also met with Curriculum Director Dr. Alyson Baker to discuss the importance of fully funding state-mandated programs and the challenges of applying one-size-fits-all solutions to meet the diverse needs of Ohio’s students.
"We appreciate Representative Miller taking the time to connect with our students and staff, and to experience the real impact of public education,” Superintendent Trevathan said. “Visits like this are critical to highlighting the programs, innovation, and passion that drive our schools."
At Hillsdale Local Schools, we are proud to share that passion, talent, and dedication fueling our students' successes every day. We are grateful for leaders who are willing to experience firsthand the daily work and achievements happening in public education.
Thank you, Representative Miller, for visiting Hillsdale Local Schools.
