JEROMESVILLE (11/9/21)--How many do you need to feed?
Sixth-graders chose a recipe in Mrs. Blosser's math class at the end of their fractions unit. The recipe had to contain five fractions (or more) and serve 4-plus people.
The groups then adjusted their recipes to feed twice as many people, half as many people, and the number of people in their class--which put their skills of multiplying and dividing fractions to good use.
Students presented their findings to the class. Some groups cooked their recipe to share with their classmates...yum!
This is a favorite project of Mrs. Blosser's that she does each year as a real-world application of fractions.
