The Rover Pipeline & Projected New Facility

JEROMESVILLE (3/15/18)--On March 13, 2018, a public meeting was held to provide information about how the Rover Pipeline project could impact our district and how this could relate to new facilities. The slide show presented can be found at the bottom of this page or follow this link.

Rover is a public utility pipeline transporting natural gas, which is taxable under Chapter 57 of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC). Rover had until April 18, 2018, to file tax reports with the Ohio Department of Taxation (ODT). ODT will use these tax reports to provide preliminary assessment certificates by October 1, 2018. These assessment certificates will give us a very good idea on the revenue the district will receive. We are very optimistic that we will see substantial revenue, potentially to the point where we could build a new K-12 facility without going to the voters for a bond issue. I know this sounds too good to be true, but time will tell.

This assumption of projected revenue is based on two factors. First is the amount of tax dollars Rover stated that it will be paying during the first year of full operation to Ohio. That total amount was $135,000,000. Secondly, we are using information that experts have analyzed concerning the Nexus pipeline project, and we are comparatively looking at the Rover project. We will carefully be watching the release of figures that the ODT will provide by October 1, 2018.

We know the community will have many questions and concerns. We will continue to update our website with information concerning the pipeline revenue and new facilities. You may visit the district webpage at www.hillsdale.k12.oh.us and click on the “New Facility” tab. There you will find new information, as well as questions and answers to questions concerning the project.

Please visit our website and participate in our online survey concerning new facilities. If you have additional questions, please contact me at hill_dickerson@tccsa.net or by telephone at 419-368-8501.
