JEROMESVILLE (6/28/22)--Some of our HES #FALCONflock had a great time "camping" at the elementary last week!
Our summer-school camp focused on language arts, math, science, and STEM activities that were based on the camping theme.
And what camp is complete without S'mores? On the last day, students were treated to the tasty snack.
In addition, the last-day activities included escape room-like lessons leading to a missing Mr. Williams. Check out our highlight here: http://www.hillsdale.k12.oh.us/es/news/summer-camp-students-search-mr-wi...
Along with the lessons, breakfast, lunch, and transportation were provided at no cost to families.
A special Falcon shout-out to Mrs. Dilgard, Miss Shafer, Miss Hackett, Mrs. Kandel, Mrs. Butcher and children, Mrs. Ataji, Mrs. Runkle, Mrs. Schuck, Mrs. T. Fickes, Mr. Baker, and Mr. Williams (and anyone we may have missed) for creating this fun and creative experience!
Lessons included sight word games, sentence scrabbles, animal habitats and food, making bird seed hangers and bird houses, using frog hoppers for math problems, and planning the supplies and associated costs for group camping.
The book "Amelia Bedelia Goes Camping" was shared.
The 4th graders constructed a geodome with Mr. Baker and Mr. Williams, which the other students had fun using!
And, of course, kids enjoyed the wonderful weather with recess!
52 students who will be entering grades 1 through 4 this fall participated in the 4-day event.
