Google Classroom Assignment Submission Best Practices

JEROMESVILLE (4/2/20)--Our district--staff, teachers, students and parents--has marched bravely into learning remotely during the pandemic, along with the other challenges and changes made necessary by the crisis. We are proud of each of you for tackling this. We have all needed to practice patience and offer grace, not just to others but ourselves, as well. We understand your frustration. We've experienced some of our own. Together we will successfully get through these difficult times.

We became aware this week that some families were having issues with submitting assignments through Google Classroom. As we looked into this, it's unclear the source of these problems. Other districts are also having some of the same issues, so it's possible Google's platform is having problems keeping up with the increased demand.

Because we aren't completely sure why the problem is happening, we have developed a best practice video (below) to help show the process of completing and submitting an assignment in Classroom. It may not be a bad idea to do what some of you have already been doing. Take a screenshot or photo before turning in the assignment. If you run into problems once it’s submitted with the assignment still not showing as turned in or disappearing, don't panic. Please contact your teacher, who can confirm whether the assignment has been received. It's possible you won't see it, but your teachers may find it on their end.

Once again, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to learn and adapt. If you aren't sure about something or have questions, please reach out to us through regular channels of communication. We are here to help. We are in this together.
