2020 Tentative Reopening Plan

JEROMESVILLE (7/16/20)--Falcon Families, In looking toward the 2020-21 school year, it is still our goal for 100% of our students to return to our buildings every day, as long as it can be done safely. To that end, we have been developing a responsible, 4-tiered plan (Plan A, B, C & D) for returning to school, which prioritizes the health and safety of both staff and students. Think of these 4 tiers as being on a sliding scale. We could move from one to another throughout the year, depending on the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 as it relates to Hillsdale Schools and Ashland County.

We understand that our staff, students and their families have various needs and concerns. We have listened carefully to the feedback we received through the surveys, emails and phone calls. We appreciate your input and your understanding that any plan cannot address everyone’s concerns and wishes.

The plan is based on public health information available at this time. As new guidance from local, state and federal officials is received, the plan will most likely be adjusted to best support the health and safety of our students and employees. All updates will be posted online at http://www.hillsdale.k12.oh.us/district/covid-19 and shared with our families and employees.

This document outlines the initial recommendations and guidelines that will be used to keep students and staff members as safe as possible. The presentation was provided to the Board of Education to preview at its July meeting and for review at the August board meeting.  Please understand additional guidelines and plans (i.e., busing, drop off, attendance procedures, etc) will continue to be developed and shared as available.

Together we will get through these difficult times.

Stay Falcon Strong,

Steve Dickerson
Superintendent
Hillsdale Local School District

(7/20/20)--Between July 20 and July 23, your child's building principal will be contacting you by phone to collect information vital to Hillsdale Schools' Return-to-School Plan. Among other applications, the information will be used to help in establishing the 2020-21 bus routes.

When they contact you, please be ready to answer the following questions. If you have questions pertaining to the information they will be collecting, you may ask them at the time of the phone call. We understand you likely have many questions. If they are not addressed in the plan, the details are still being worked out and will be shared as soon as they are available.

1. After reviewing the return-to-school plan for Hillsdale Local Schools (below), are you planning on sending your child to school, considering grades 3-12 students will be required to wear a mask?

2. If yes, will you use the district's transportation, understanding riders will be required to wear a mask while on the bus?

3. If no, are you considering using Hillsdale Schools' online curriculum to educate your child? If so, please register by August 14, 2020, at http://www.hillsdale.k12.oh.us/district/news/k-12-online-learning-curric....

(Please note that this is different from having to move to Plan D--100% remote learning--in case buildings need to close again.)
